Progress!

I almost never post here anymore. I signed up for Livejournal to join a group for people with Asperger's Syndrome, which has since been deleted, I've made very very few new friends, and most of the people I know face to face have given up on LJ all together.

With a few obvious holdouts, of course. You know who you are.

Anyway. I'm officially giving up on this blog. I'll probably still post two or three times a year when something noteworthy happens. I'm going to move all of you actively posting people to my RSS feeds, so don't feel abandoned. There's pressure to join Facebook, but I'm still reluctant.

However... Should any of you be interested, you can find me on Twitter. I'd have posted this sooner, but being on a local cell provider, I had to cobble together access to my tweets from spare pieces of software. 98% of you shouldn't have that problem.

Blogged with the Flock Browser

It was a day

Holly and I started the day out with We Love Katamari. Two people pushing a katamari is... interesting. Fun and frustrating. After she went to work my plan was to deposit Amtgard money, promptly spend some of it on rulebooks, and then call Amanda back and see if she wanted to hang out, but I fell back asleep until 5:15 and spent hours driving around for what should have been 20 minutes of errands. I SHOULD NEVER DRIVE. Got all of my stuff done though. People have been promising to print out rulebooks at home for everyone for years. I got tired of waiting. :P

ProMag got bumped up to 5th level! I could have been using it months ago! GRAAAA!

While waiting for Holly to get home I finally got XMMS2 working. No more command line music player! Woot! And I think it will lead to fixing a few other compiling issues...

Used my shiny new dremel today. If you ever seen me in person, odds are you seen me with my broken-wobbly-coffee-cup-with-a-lid-for-a-base. Ground the threading off of an otherwise perfectly sized lid, and now it sits much better. Still kind of rediculous, but I get attached to my coffee cups.

Blogged with the Flock Browser

Snow!

Is my first time driving in bad weather. Wish someone would have warned me about the whole ABS & snow thing. I almost rear ended someone on my way to work. And I rolled through a stoplight.

Dumb breaks. Think I've got the hang of it now, though.

Work was awesome. It really started to snow about an hour after I got there and we died off bad. Got to sit down and enjoy most of Peanuts with Mayze, who seems to have gotten even hotter the last month and a half I haven't seen her. Bad Pete. Cold shower.

I did half a doughnut in the parking lot. It was amusing.

Blogged with the Flock Browser

Are you serious!!

Another blog where I apologize for not posting. Has been months. There have been a few blog worthy things, I just haven't been bothered to get off my ass and do it. These things are:

1. Summer Trials

2. Funeral

3. Wedding

4. Autumn Trials

....Ummm. I should probably get out more.

In two weeks, I will be thirty years old. I'm trying not to think about it. Still having a party, though. Woohoo! You should all come! Here's a fun conversation between Holly and I.

Holly: "What do you want for your birthday?"

Pete: "Boo-"

Holly: "Don't say books!"

Pete: *silence*

So I have no idea what I want.

My insurance rate went down because I'm a "safe driver". Go ahead and laugh. I did.

Our power went out for about twenty minutes on Thursday. Night really a big deal. Seems to happen a lot more here in Sergeant Bluff than in Sioux City. But when everything was powered back up my computer wasn't working right. X server wouldn't run, no filesystem other than ext3 would work, and worst yet, net was broken. BROKEN! So I've been banging my head in trying to figure it out. It came to me at work. I feel like an idiot. Ted would never forgive me for being so dumb.

All I had to do to fix it was run depmod. Just once. *sigh*

Everyone say hello to Sandra, my new Myspace friend! She's way down south in Paraguay. And say hello to a different person who's been posting anonymously in my LJ from the same town as Sandra. But different. Really. :P

Blogged with the Flock Browser

Pictures from Rivermoor midreign. Mostly taken by Rah and Tsuki, as I am too shy.

I should warn, two of these might be NSFW. Kind of. Maybe.

"How can a bag be adults only?" I ask myself. Then I saw it.

It's not really that bad.

Stayed home from Amtgard today to dig the pond. Made good progress till black spots started crawling all over the world, so we came in, rehydrated, and showered. Then it rained a lot.

After that we spent our last day on vacation doing nothing. Am really bummed out.

Blogged with the Flock Browser

Road Trip!

I'm leaving for Lincoln in... six and a half hours with Dakar and Cogar. Midreign better be awesome. This is my first long distance trip driving. I'm not actually nervous, though that may change when I hit heavy traffic in Lincoln.

I promised a cute little blond girl embarrassing pictures of Cogar dying. I'm sure I'll find someone to accommodate.

Blogged with the Flock Browser

I. Hate. Maggots.

I realise flies have there place in the grand scheme of things. Meat has to rot, circle of life, etc.

Don't care. One of those irrational things we humans always coming up with. I hate them.

The following didn't take place around food, or I'd have closed the store. A little crazy, but I'd have done it.

There were maggots falling out of the ceiling at work. Maggots. Ceiling. Falling. A lot.

We looked on the roof. No body. I'm guessing a bird or bat died somewhere inconvenient. Bluh.

Fuck that.

It is so time for a new job when it starts to rain maggots.

Twelve hour shift at work. Lary quit. Now my schedule is going to be all crazy and people will leave in droves when the new manager starts. Again. Have I mentioned our store is fully stocked with jailbait? I feel like the biggest perv ever. Oh well.

Bought a nut cup and a digital camera. Now Amtgard will be safer for my genitalia, and I can record all my shenanigans for posterity. No cool pictures to share yet.

Hung out with Amanda. She needs a place to live in the next 30 days and would rather not live with someone who gets stoned/drunk all the time. In other words, us. I'm okay with it, is on;y for a few months and she can pay rent. Holly is dead set against it, though. I'm going to keep trying. Might hide her in the basement. :P

Was hoping Krista would come out. She's leaving Saturday for California. Oh well.

Hello, there.

What has Pete been doing?

Amtgard turnout has been great. More people, longer games. Good stuff. 17 people last Sunday. Most of them fairly agreeable. Old friend of mine finally came out and is excited about playing monk.

Pond construction has begun. Turns out digging the hole is easier than moving several hundred pounds of dirt from here to our old place to fill in the old pond. Almost black out. Hard work. New hole is just under two feet so far and already half full of water (it rained). When done it will be 8x13x3 feet. Bottom drain, settling tank, bog filter.

Got a wireless card for my computer. Didn't check the Linux compatability very well, but I got it working after a couple days. See. It's working. :P Cable modem and wireless router are now unobtrusively arranged in the general area of the TV and all that extra wiring on the floor is gone. Also after those past months of fiddling with settings to get the PS2 and computer talking, I found out in about forty seconds how easy it is to give a NIC two IP addresses in Linux. Am both pissed and pleased with myself.

Still getting the hang of driving. Still need to get out more. Still need to unpack, but apparently we're painting first.

TJs has been freshly stocked with jailbait. Somewhere inside me is a very pleased Dirty Old Man. Hopefully a few of them turn out to be decent workers. Our turnover rate has been... higher than usual the last, oh, seven or eight months for some reason. I keep waiting for things to level out. TH=hey keep not leveling out. One of my favorite coworkers got fired for doing something really stupid. *le sigh*

I should be in bed. I have to get up in less than six hours.

Well. I'm driving. Without a license. Is terrible, I know, but I need to get to work. I've been studying for my driving test and *cough* practicing as much as possible. Am hoping to take the test Thursday.

Anyway, I'm still Pete the Terrible Navigator. I got lost. Twice. On the interstate. First time I just didn't know where I was going. I still have the barest of ideas. The second time I just missed my turn and couldn't get back for four miles. Bleh. Also it's windy as hell out there. Sounds like the end of the world. I thought music would be distracting but it would've been better than that awful banshee howling.

I owe people apologies. Driving is scary and if I had to put up with me there'd be fiery death all around.
You probably didn't see it, but that post I did May 2nd had a bunch of images linked from the easygestures chrome. Must've leaked in when I opened a pie menu in the text box. Weird.

Blogged with the Flock Browser

Greetings from new house, and Strangernet

Yep. First night in the new house. Cable One let us down already. Sent us a final bill notice instead of hooking up the new house. So no cable or internet. Or is there...

Remember people, secure your WAPs. Or not.

Work was unending pain and misery. Stupid Cinco de Mayo special. We actually ran out of lettuce!

Tomorrow I try to get my driver's license. Then we move some more stuff. Hopefully food eating stuff. I'll post again when I'm a little less fragmented.

It must be Spring, I'm doing stuff!

Apparently we overpaid my medical bill, the hospital sent us a check. This makes Holly happy because she no longer has to spend her bonus on a new pond and it make me happy because it bumps the new pond budget up an extra $200. Some of you will be helping me dig a very very big hole.

Including you, Scott. :P

Beer and shovels will be provided.

Had another weird dream. Killer snow tornado/squid. We melted it down and made brownies.

Some of this windfall money is going to pay for something I owe my friend Josh. And possibly an extra.

Blogged with the Flock Browser

...And he's up

Went to bed too early. Slept like a rock till around 2:00, when I had a crazy dream and woke up. Fell back asleep until 3:30 when I had another weird dream, laid there for an hour or so and gave up. Forgot the first dream, but the second one had something to do with a big sort of magnetic cube that was actually made up of thousands of flat little reddish brown squares. You could pull handfulls of them out but they'd get pulled right back in. I got a bunch stuck in my hair. It was weird. It wasn't a perfect cube, putting itself together kind of like a bismuth crystal.

Am just meandering about Flickr, now.

Blogged with the Flock Browser

Moody

Man I'm off today. All crabby and morose for hours. No good reason. Poked around with Me.dium on flock to see how well it matches interests while simultaneously scrolling through the "People of India" flickr group in the media bar. And now for some reason I'm getting my nerd on, cutting up enchantment strips while laughing at eSam.

I do like Flock, by the way. Is very busy, but also very cool. Just plugged Mindee's Youtube stream in.

<four hour intermission>

Heh. More multitasking means more distractions.

Blogged with the Flock Browser

Am just trying out the new Mozilla based browser, Flock. It might be incredible, I'm no sure yet.
Seriously. Snow. IT'S ALMOST APRIL!

Oh well. Nothing big, just wanted to share this with you all.
Through the ether...

Well, provided the current owners pay for/repair a basement wall, we're buying a house. Holly turns in the paperwork tomorrow. We had to sign our names a thousand times.

Greg lent me a DVD-RW drive. Spent a bit of time getting it working. Managed to break USB networking in the process somehow, which provided the necessary impetus to fix my whole "ethernet to cable modem" problem. So other than having an extra drive hanging out the side, things are going better than ever. And I have an extra IP address. Burning "The Daleks" right now. Hopefully it works. Spent most of my night doing it.

Spring Forward, Fall Asleep

Has been a lomg, sad, boring, and exciting week.

I officially didn't get home until 3:50 AM

Coworkers were whiny, stoned, and hung over. Except for the always fabulous Krista, who worked 7AM until 11PM tonight. I am beat beat beat, and I missed Shannon's birthday party, and she is awesome2 so this makes me sad.

Scott moved away forever to Omaha. It will be good for him, but eventually I'm going to come out of this antisocial quagmire and have no one to hang out with. Ted says he's going to be that fat one now. Silly, lonely Ted. Helped Scott pick out a laptop (sort of) and exploited a memory card for him, so he can watch movies on his own PS2. This town won't be the same without him.

After I made her swear six times we could afford the payments, Holly gave the go ahead to buy the house. It isn't a done deal yet, but I'd be astonished if we didn't get it.

Finally got around to figuring out how to make VCDs. Burned all the video from our trip to the zoo for Holly, and The Wall on two for Krista. Mencoder for the win.

One of my coworkers is supposed to come out tomorrow. I'm not really expecting him to show (edit: I do see a new member in the Yahoo group, who knows). Am looking forward to playing, though. Have a need to hit people.
